The First Weeks with a Bunny Mansion

In this blog, I will tell you everything about the first weeks with a Bunny Mansion.

A rabbit is a wonderful pet. However, it is always a challenge to give your rabbit a nice place to live. Many traditional hutches are designed for outdoor use and do not match the rest of the furniture. We bought a Freeroam Bunny Cage because the little & cheap playpen we had was messy, difficult to clean, and didn't look good in our home. The Freeroam Bunny Cage from Bunny Mansions really changed our lives, and in this blog I will explain why!

The Design of the Freeroam Bunny Cage

The Freeroam Bunny Cage has a dark gray color with a blue undertone. It looks very chic in the living room. Additionally, it has a lid so you can easily access the hay rack.

Moreover, the cage has bars instead of mesh. This makes the mansion spacious, stylish, and allows you to keep an eye on your rabbit.

The mansion also has two entrances, one at the front and one at the side. Rabbits feel safest when they have two entrances. Naturally, they want a second exit so they can always leave if a predator is waiting at one entrance.

Using the Freeroam Bunny Cage

Rambo, our rabbit, absolutely loves the new bunny cage. He is completely in love with his new spot.

At first, he had to figure out exactly where he could enter, but he quickly got the hang of it. He also found the hay rack quickly and used the litter box right away. Rabbits can feel the difference in texture between the blanket and the wood pellets, which helps with litter training.

He often lies in the cage, either stretched out on his belly or flopped on his side. The bars provide enough light for him to watch everything happening in the room while also providing enough shade to feel like a cozy hideaway. We also thought it would be nice if he could lie on the lid, so we placed an extra fleece blanket on top of the mansion.

Rambo always has plenty of diverse toys in his mansion, and he is allowed to roam freely in the living room 24/7. As a result, he never chews on the mansion; the toys are much more appealing!

Cleaning the Cage

The cage is a must-have if you like a clean house. It ensures that all the mess stays inside the bunny cage. Cleaning has never been easier. The lid allows you to easily access the hay and quickly clean the mansion.

When cleaning, I always follow the same steps. First, I remove the fleece blanket and shake it out over the litter box to ensure no large hay stems get into the vacuum cleaner. I only have one custom-sized fleece blanket, but I would recommend having a second one. This way, you can alternate weekly and wash the blanket at your convenience. Small pieces of hay often remain at the bottom of the hay rack, which I usually remove by hand and throw into the litter box.

Next, I take the litter box out of the mansion and place something in front of the spot to prevent Rambo from accidentally peeing while I clean the box.

Then, I use the vacuum cleaner to thoroughly clean the mansion. I empty the litter box into the trash, wipe it down with a vinegar cloth, and add new wood pellets. I place the litter box back in the mansion, put the clean blanket in, and voila, a clean Bunny Mansion!

In Conclusion

The Bunny Mansion is truly a fantastic home. It integrates well into the room and has a beautiful design. We receive many compliments from people who see it for the first time. Additionally, the living room is much cleaner because all the mess stays in the Bunny Mansion, and it is much easier to clean than the playpen we used to have, saving me a lot of energy every week. Last but certainly not least, our rabbit loves the Mansion. He often lies stretched out in it or plays with the toys inside.
