Plexiglass playpen
Rabbits read a clear panel differently from a barred one. Most settle faster behind plexiglass because they can still see the room; a few test it harder for exactly the same reason.
Assembly
What you'll need
- A clear, flat floor area — plexiglass panels scratch on grit, so sweep first
- Two people, so no panel gets leaned on while you connect the next one
- [TO CONFIRM: tools needed, or do the panels clip together by hand?]
Cleaning and care
Cleaning, and what not to use. Plexiglass scratches far more easily than metal or glass. Use a soft cloth and warm water with a little washing-up liquid. Never use an abrasive sponge, a scouring pad, or anything containing alcohol or ammonia — alcohol clouds plexiglass permanently, which includes most glass cleaners.
Drying. Dry with a soft cloth rather than letting it air-dry, or you get water marks on a surface you can see straight through.
The first few days. A rabbit that can see the room will often sit against the panel looking out. That's normal and it isn't distress. What matters is whether they rest and eat inside the pen — if they do, the pen is working.
Nose marks. You will have them. They wipe off with a damp soft cloth and they are not worth chasing daily.
[TO CONFIRM: panel height, whether a lid is available, and whether the panels can be ordered individually]
